How it all works in the world of adoptions
BARRC dogs are part of our extended family and we aim to match the dog's personality to the adopter. We consider ourselves as supporters of adopters, treating each new addition not only as an individual but as part of our extended family.
We strive to work with owners to be the best pet owners they can be. This means we work with our applicants to ensure we find the perfect pet that fits their individual lifestyle.
We do not take the first application but contact several to ensure we get the right fit, first time.
Our adoption fee includes:
-
a general health check
-
flea and worming treatment
-
vaccination
-
microchipping
-
desexing (if the dog is too young for desexing, a voucher is provided)
To ensure the dog is the best match for your home and lifestyle, we encourage you to read the full information provided on the dog’s SavourLife profile prior to submitting your enquiry to adopt. Dogs are placed on hold whilst our volunteer team filter through the applications.

Once an applicant has been selected, they are contacted and a meeting or BAM (BARRC Animal Meeting) is organised so the two can ensure a perfect match. Once all are in agreement then the adoption paperwork is completed and proof of payment received the dog can now start the 14-day trial in its new home.
If for any reason the adopter believes it is not a match made in heaven, then the dog is returned and a full refund is given. We will contact you throughout the trial to make sure all is well, and your new family member is not eating the couch!
After the trial period, we will finalise the adoption making it official and transferring ownership of your new best friend. All documents are then sent and your only job is now to register them with your local shire.
We are unfortunately unable to accept Expressions of Interest in advance of a dog being advertised as we are often heavily inundated with requests for specific dogs.
Note: All applications are to be conducted via the link(s) provided. All applicants are responded to within 14 days of receipt of the Expression of Interest Form.
